It’s about more than sticks & bricks!
It’s about empowering a new era of developers to buy and build in their own backyards as a way to revitalize communities, from the inside out. The neighborhood developer is driven by greater social impact and looks different than the traditional developer. Thus, we believe the neighborhood developer is the answer to providing sustainable housing & economic development for our community and others like it across the country.
Mission
Our mission is to provide equitable opportunities in real estate through education, access to capital, and sharing responsible development practices.
Our People
We are a community of neighbors, professionals, and stakeholders comprised of an advisory board and committee members
Background
The 3rd Ward Real Estate Council is a chapter of The North America Real Estate Council (NAREC), a Texas recognized 501c3 non-profit. Founded by real estate broker and urban planner Jason Hyman along with several neighbors, the council was born as a way to manage gentrification in Third Ward, Houston, TX. It has evolved into a vehicle of real estate based models for community development that can be replicated and scaled in other areas of the city and across the country.
